FAQs | Cold Plunge Tubs & Chillers | All-In-One Cold Plunges

Does it cool and heat? What temperatures does it reach?

Yes, the cold plunge has a dual heater/chiller, and it can go as low as 37 °F and as high as 104 °F.

How long does it take to cool and heat?

Cooling times are highly dependent on the ambient temperature, and it will usually take about 3 hours or more to reach standard cold plunging temperatures from room temperature water.

The most important factor impacting cooling times is the outside temperature. If the chiller is in Arizona with an outside temperature 105 °F, it will cool the water much slower than if the chiller is in Maine with an outside temperature of ~65 °F. This is because (1) the outside air heats up the water in your cold plunge, and (2) the chiller (like an air conditioner unit) is less efficient in high temperatures because it cannot effectively dissipate the hot air it generates.

Try some of the following steps to improve your cooling times:

1. Place your plunge in a well-ventilated area. The silver vents should be exposed and should have at least 3ft of open space beside them so that fresh air can enter the vents and hot air can be released in the cooling process.

2. Leave your plunge on at mid-temperature. If you would like to take your water temp to be at 40 °F (for example), leave your chiller on and running at ~60 °F as your baseline, then set the temperature down to your desired temperature a few hours before your plunge.

3. Make sure your tub's lid is on securely. This will help insulate the water and keep it shaded from the sun.

Does it plug into an outlet and how many amps does it draw?

Your cold plunge comes ready to plug into any standard household 120V plug, and it draws 12 amps.

Can I use an extension cord?

Yes, as long as the extension cord is rated for 15A or more and made specifically for outdoor use.

What horsepower is the motor?

1.5 HP

Is it loud? What is the decibel level of the chiller?

45db max; quieter than a standard box fan.

What’s the warranty?

Warranty terms for all products are available at: www.redwoodoutdoors.com/warranty/

How many gallons of water does it hold?

The Denali All-In-One Cold Plunge Kit holds max 80 gallons.

The Alaskan All-In-One Cold Plunge Kit holds max 104 gallons.

What is the minimum / maximum operable outside temperature?

The minimum ambient operating temperature is 32 °F.

If used in temperatures below 32 °F, ice will form on the internal components and damage the equipment. Below 32 °F, the tub must be drained and winterized as per the instructions in the user manual.  Damage caused by use in temperatures below 32 °F is not covered by the warranty.

The maximum operating temp is 110 °F.

The tub must be turned off at ambient temperatures above 110 °F to prevent damaging internal components. Damage caused by use in 110 °F temperatures or higher is not covered under warranty.

What is included with the cold plunge?

  • Insulated foam and vegan leather lid with child-lock safety feature
  • GFCI plug adaptor
  • New filter
  • Quick hose drain adaptor
  • Small hose attachment for drip drain
  • Slip-resistant steps

How often do I need to change the water?

Change the water at least once per month, or more frequently with heavy use or multiple users.

How often does the filter need to be replaced?

A filter cartridge typically lasts 6 to 12 months, however, it must be cleaned regularly to achieve this lifespan. To keep your filtration system in top working condition, we recommend cleaning it at least once per month.

To clean the filter cartridge, remove it from the filter housing and place it in a bucket of water. Add a filter cleaning agent to the water and swish around to mix. Let the cartridge sit in the bucket for ~24 hours. After 24 hours, take the cartridge out, rinse, and leave it to dry. Once the filter is dried out, you can put it back in the filtration system for use.

We recommend buying filter cartridges in pairs. Then when it's time to clean your filter, you can use your second cartridge. By rotating between filter cartridges, you can avoid having to stop using your plunge tub while the filter is being cleaned, and you can buy cartridges less frequently.

Redwood Outdoors sells replacement filter cartridges for when your cartridge has reached the end of its life and needs a change.

Are water sanitization products required?

No. All-In-One cold plunges have built-in UV water sanitation, so chlorine and bromine are not required. In fact, chlorine and bromine can corrode sensitive components, and damage caused by chemical corrosion is not covered under Redwood Outdoors’ product warranty.

Are water balancing products required?

Yes, it is very important to monitor your alkaline, pH, and calcium (hardness) levels to avoid damaging your equipment over time. Any damage due to improper water chemistry is not covered under Redwood Outdoors’ product warranty. Your tub’s water must be checked weekly, or more often, to make sure it is within the ranges below: pH: 7.2 - 7.8 Calcium: 150 - 250 ppm Alkaline: 80 - 120 ppm In most cases, you will find that you need to increase your alkalinity, decrease your pH, and increase calcium. Our Water Balancing Kit provides the chemicals and the testing strips needed to make these adjustments.

How do I drain the tub?

The drain has a 3/4" garden hose connection and includes a quick-connect adapter for compatible hoses.

For faster draining or when water needs to be moved farther away, you can use a submersible utility pump. A 1/4 HP pump works well and can push water through a garden hose up to 75' away. Most utility pumps include an adapter for connecting directly to a garden hose.

How does the chiller work?

The chiller works similarly to an air conditioner, but cools water instead of air. Water is pumped from the tub through a heat exchanger, where refrigerant removes heat from the water. The cooled water is then circulated back into the tub, while the refrigerant is recycled through the system to continue the cooling process.

How much space is required for ventilation?

Proper ventilation is essential to prevent the chiller from overheating. Allow at least 3' of clearance around the metal ventilation grates so air can circulate and heat can escape. If the chiller overheats due to insufficient airflow, it will automatically shut off.

Do you sell replacement filters?

Yes! Please check out the cold plunge accessories page or speak with a sales representative for more details.

Does the tub have any power saving modes?

Wi-Fi models include Economy Mode; Standard models do not. Economy Mode lets you schedule up to two heating or cooling periods per day to help reduce energy use while maintaining water circulation and freeze protection.

For best results, schedule the system to run about 4–5 hours before your planned plunge. Cooling time may vary based on ambient temperature.

Can two phones connect to the Wi-Fi All-In-One at the same time?

No, only one mobile device at a time can be connected at a time.

Can I control my Wi-Fi cold plunge remotely from anywhere?

Yes, once your mobile device is paired with the cold plunge, you can use the app from anywhere as long as your tub is still in range with the Wi-Fi and the signal is strong.

What if I have issues connecting my Wi-Fi cold plunge?

If your Wi-Fi cold plunge has a weak signal where it’s installed, a Wi-Fi extender may help improve the connection.
