Are there any special requirements for the digital Wi-Fi heater installation?

Like all sauna heaters, digital sauna heaters require 240v and must be hardwired to your electrical panel. However, for digital heaters, the power from your electrical panel will run first to a Power Unit box (see diagram below) which must be positionedĀ outside of the sauna.

Please note theĀ Harvia and HUUM power units are not weatherproof and must be housed in weatherproof protection or located in a dry area.Ā Thermowood weatherproof box kits for Harvia KIP heaters are available for purchase here: www.redwoodoutdoors.com/products/weatherproof-box-set-x-harvia-kip-wi-fi/

The Power Unit feeds power to your sauna heater, interior light, temperature sensor, and Control Panel via separate outputs.

The Control Panel (pictured below) must be positioned within 16' feet of the Power Unit. The cable is 16' long and cannot be spliced. If a longer cable is needed, it may be special ordered in lengths up to 82' for an additional cost. The Control Panel must be mounted outside of the sauna and housed in a weatherproof box or located in a dry area.Ā Finally, the Control Panel must be located where it has a strong Wi-Fi signal to allow for remote control from your smartphone.

Can I upgrade to the Wi-Fi control at a later date?

Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade a manual control heater to a digital Wi-Fi system in the future. While the manual and digital heaters look very similar, they are in fact totally different heaters. This means you must select the control system you are going with at the outset. If you want to change in the future it would mean replacing the heater itself.

What are the Wi-Fi requirements for the heaters?

Wi-Fi sauna heaters (both Harvia and HUUM) require a 2.4GHz connection.

If you have 5GHz internet set up on your property, many modern internet routers have dual band capabilities allowing users to create a separate 2.4GHz network to pair with your heater. Sometimes a router upgrade is needed to achieve this. If you have questions about how to set this up, please contact your internet provider for support.

Wi-Fi heaters require a strong (full bar) signal strength for connection. If you have a weak connection where your sauna is located, a Wi-Fi extender may help with this.
