Product Description

The sauna Elf or “Saunatonttu” are the guardian spirits of the sauna. In Finnish folklore, each sauna is said to have one living inside; they watch over sauna goers, protecting its warmth and embodying the principles of purity, respect and harmony within the sauna. Keep them happy by respecting the sauna as a sacred space, be peaceful and kind towards others in the sauna – no shouting or arguing, do not enter the sauna dirty, and keep the sauna clean and well maintained. If the sauna elf is unhappy then some say that will make your sauna experience less rejuvenating. By inviting a sauna elf in is a reminder to everyone who enters that the sauna is a place to leave the hustle of everyday life at the door, encouraging us to slow down, respect our surroundings and embrace the warm restorative prowess of a well-kept sauna.
