TrueMed
At Redwood Outdoors, we’re dedicated to enhancing your wellness journey with our premium saunas and cold plunges.
To further support your investment in health and relaxation, we’ve partnered with TrueMed to make it easier for you to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds for your purchases. Here’s how our collaboration with TrueMed can benefit you.
What is TrueMed?
TrueMed is a service that partners with merchants and brands to facilitate the use of HSA/FSA funds for eligible products and services related to diagnosed medical conditions. TrueMed works with licensed practitioners to issue Letters of Medical Necessity, simplifying the process of using these tax-exempt funds for genuine medical expenses.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity?
A Letter of Medical Necessity is issued by a licensed practitioner to verify the need for certain products or services and confirm that your purchase supports the treatment or prevention of a medical condition. This document is essential for your reimbursement and remains valid for 12 months.
TrueMed simplifies this process for you—just complete our brief survey, and you'll be pre-qualified within 48 hours.
How Does TrueMed Work?
How Do I Submit for Reimbursement?
Upon completing our pre-qualification survey, TrueMed will again provide detailed instructions to guide you through the reimbursement process. Here's a brief overview:
1. Review Your LMN — Your Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), received from TrueMed, is crucial for using HSA/FSA funds.
2. Identify HSA/FSA Administrator — Check with your employer’s HR department if you’re unsure who your HSA/FSA administrator is.
3. Log in to Your Administrator’s Online Portal — If you don’t have an account, you may need to create one.
4. Find the 'Reimbursement' or 'Claims' Section
5. Submit Your LMN and Redwood Outdoors Receipt
6. Wait for Confirmation — Processing typically takes up to a few weeks. The reimbursement will be deposited into your account.
7. Use Your LMN for Valid Future Claims — Within its 12-month validity period, make additional claims with Redwood Outdoors.
What is the Difference Between HSA and FSA?
Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are tax-free accounts designed to help you manage medical expenses. Here’s a breakdown:
• HSA: Connected to high-deductible health plans, HSAs allow contributions up to $3,850 for individuals and $7,750 for families, with an additional $1,000 for individuals aged 55 or older. Funds roll over year-to-year and do not expire.
• FSA: Managed through your employer, FSAs have a contribution limit of $3,050 annually, with an occasional $500 added by employers. Funds must be used within the plan year or be forfeited.
Both options are available only in the US and may not apply to self-employed individuals without prior HSA coverage.
Can I Use My HSA/FSA Card at Checkout?
For compliance reasons, we advise using a regular credit or debit card at checkout. You can then submit for reimbursement through TrueMed for the best chance of approval.
What If I Have Insufficient Funds in My HSA/FSA Account?
Partial reimbursement is possible. For example, if you spend $100 but have only $60 in your account, you can use $60 of tax-free funds and pay the remaining $40 out of pocket.
What If My Reimbursement is Rejected?
If your reimbursement is rejected, contact TrueMed at team@TrueMed.com for assistance. Often, the issue can be resolved by reissuing the Letter of Medical Necessity according to your administrator’s requirements.
